Flowers: A Guide to Familiar American Wildflowers (Golden Guides)
Published in Paperback by St. Martin's Press (August, 1987)
Average review score:

Great for Family Walks! This is a great little book to take along on family outings. It's not comprehensive, but it was not meant to be; it does identify the most common plants that one is likely to run across and be curious about. The illustrations make the plants readily identifiable, along with regional distributions and common names. Small, easy to carry along, inexpensive enough take some rough handling by children. This small book could be the impetus for younger members of the family to find a new interest, but is also thorough enough to make walks in the woods enjoyable for the adults. I found it to be well worth the price.

The Folklore of Florida Southern College
Published in Paperback by Aventine Press (March, 2003)
Average review score:

Engaging and delightful read! What fun! I began at Florida Southern College in 1998, and during my years there I heard stories, sure, but nothing like this! Dr. Bruce takes us through decades of folk tales about the college, you know--those ghost stories and such that we all loved telling over and over again. I never knew there were so many--it makes for a great read! He also makes you think about why the stories get told--what's going on with the tellers. I finished it in one long (kind of spooky) night! I never had Dr. Bruce for a class--boy, I wish I had!

The Food of Australia: Contemporary Recipes from Australia" Leading Chefs (Food of Series)
Published in Paperback by Charles E Tuttle Co (December, 1996)
Average review score:

Who said that Australia does not have its own cuisine?I would highly recommend this book to anybody who likes original and imaginative food. The recipes come from Australia's leading chefs many of whom are world famous. Cheong Liew (his recipes in the book include Four Dances of the Sea; and Veal Cutlets with Shrimps and Green Tea)is perhaps best known for inventing much of Australia's fusion cuisine. His restaurant, The Grange at the Adelaide Hilton certainly bears his name as much as the restaurant name itself. Just reading the recipes in itself is a temptation to visit Adelaide and make a booking at The Grange.
Easy to follow instructions and wonderful color photographs of the dishes certainly make this one of the better cookbooks. For the adventurous cook, try substituting ingredients, if it is not available in your hometown.
If you are intrigued by the name of the dish, Four Dances of the Sea, I'd recommend taking a look at the book.

Footnotes: Six Choreographers Inscribe the Page (Critical Voices in Art, Theory, and Culture)
Published in Paperback by Routledge (01 July, 1998)
Average review score:

Steps across boundariesA wonderful multidisciplinary approach which shows that Dance can be political and literary, in addition to being physical and visual. Engages the reader to consider dance and choreography in a new way -- including that there need not be an edge to the stage, i.e. that the stage can be the world so that the performance can even be the self of the "viewer."

Forensic Aspects of Sleep
Published in Hardcover by John Wiley & Sons (21 April, 1997)
Average review score:

A most interesting treatmnet of a new and important area.Sleep deprivation has a considerable impact on our society. This book is the first of its kind, I understand, to look at the legal implications of this fascinating subject. It is extremely well-written and is quite accessible to the lay reader. A remarkable book.

The four donkeys
Published in Unknown Binding by Holt, Rinehart and Winston ()
Average review score:

UnderratedAnother elegant bit of work from The Master Craftsman. Threemen on their way to market meet up with trivial disasters and end uphaving to trot back home, disappointed but wiser. The gentle little moral is a positive pleasure, the writing is superb, and the illustrations enhance the text without overshadowing it because the text stands on its own; it's not an excuse for visual creativity. Not for very little kids, but a great read-aloud book for kids with a fairly long attention span, and a great book for anyone older than that.
